IMPORTANT: Take notes!
Notes are helpful in recalling students’ interests, educational plans, career goals, and concerns. They also are helpful for documenting the reason for the advising session. Notes should be kept objective and neutral. Personal opinions and thoughts about students should not be a part of advising notes. Email correspondence are considered part of students’ academic records, so such correspondence should be saved. GPS is a wonderful tool to save appointment meeting notes.
