Financial Aid Eligibility and Non-Degree Courses
Financial aid eligibility is determined by a student’s enrolled course load, and only courses that meet degree requirements are included in that calculation. Courses can be for declared majors and minors or intended majors and minors. It does not include certificates.
- For full-time undergraduate and AGI students receiving financial aid, at least 12 credit hours per semester must count toward degree requirements as reflected in the student’s degree audit(s).
- The Enrollment Wizard shows the Financial Aid units a student has. To receive full time aid, this number must be 12. If this number is less than 12, but the student’s total enrollment is higher, the student will have to pay out-of-pocket for any extra units over Financial Aid units.
- Non–degree coursework does not count toward federal or state financial aid eligibility.
If you have any questions about what this means for students, please see the Student Services Center website for frequently asked questions and important information. Also advise students to reach out to their financial aid counselor for questions and concerns about financial aid policies.
